About us
Trade Me in the community
We're by Kiwi, for Kiwi.
We’re proud to be a Kiwi business, and love to find ways our people, and our platform, can help.
At Trade Me, we're by Kiwi, for Kiwi. We recognise that we have a responsibility to help make Aotearoa a better place for all Kiwi.
Through our Kindness Store and Success fee round-up initiatives, we've helped raise over a million dollars for Kiwi in need.
Supporting charities
The Kindness Store
Since 2018, we've been operating The Kindness Store – a virtual store on Trade Me where our members can easily purchase items sold on behalf of charities, which are in turn gifted directly to Kiwi in need.
We open the store twice a year: over Christmas – to help those doing it tough during a would-be happy time, and during winter – to give a little extra support to Kiwi who need it. We've also opened it in the wake of significant events impacting Aotearoa, like the Christchurch mosque attack, COVID-19 lockdown and Cyclone Gabrielle.

Success fee round-up
Sellers on Trade Me have the option to round up their success fee to the nearest dollar when they make a sale, donating the difference to a charity partner of their choice.

Charity auctions
Kiwi are a generous bunch and we know our members love to rally behind a cause near and dear to their hearts. There are many ways we can support charities, whether it’s discounting success fees or promoting charity auctions on Trade Me.

Protecting our taonga
We're a Kiwi company, and our world-famous-in-Aotearoa mascot is Kev the kiwi, so supporting real life kiwi is a no-brainer. We work with Save the Kiwi, a national charity raising funds and awareness to support kiwi conservation projects across the motu.
A few years back, Save the Kiwi offered to let us name a real life Kiwi and support it. Kevin the kiwi was hatched at Rainbow Springs, Rotorua in 2017.
Trade Me is a Shielded Site
As a Women's Refuge Shielded Site, victims of domestic violence can access information and help without any trace showing in their search history. The shield is on the bottom of every Trade Me listing.
The shield is located in the Trade Me footer.
