Toyota Land Cruiser Prado 2024

The seven seat Prado will be available in four grades. The Adventure model focuses on off-roading performance with a rear differential lock, and stabiliser disconnect mechanism, while the VX Limited is positioned as the more premium grade with adaptive variable suspension. The GXL starts at $83,990, the VX is $93,990 and the Limited is $105,990. The Prado Adventure is $103,990 while the optional two-tone paint package is another $1000.

All models are powered by a 2.8-litre inline four TDI that makes 150kW at 3000-3400rpm and 500Nm at 1600-2800rpm. It has an eight-speed auto and full time 4WD. With a 48V mild hybrid system, consumption is rated at 8.7L/100km (230g/km). While it has AdBlue and a DPF, it’s only Euro5 compliant. The 110L fuel tank will give it a good touring range. 

Toyota says; “the increased wheelbase - up 60mm to 2850mm - provides better stability combined with improved ground clearance.  A lower beltline improves visibility and reduces bonnet blind spots so the driver has a better sense of where they are on and off the road.”

The Prado again rides on a full, separate chassis with a four link rigid axle at the rear, located with a lateral control rod, coil springs and a stabiliser bar. At the front are independent double wishbones, and it has disc brakes at each corner. 

The off road stats include 205mm of ground clearance, it can wade through 700mm of water while the approach and departure angles are 31 and 17 respectively. The VX models and above gain Multi-Terrain Select. According to Toyota this “automatically adjusts the engine output and the brakes to provide maximum traction for the driver-selected off-road condition. In the past, drivers have had to skillfully operate the accelerator and brakes in a manner suited to the terrain to ensure traction. Now, by simply selecting the appropriate terrain using MTS, even novice drivers can take on challenging off-road scenarios with confidence”. A terrain monitor camera is also on the spec list.
