The all-new Nissan Patrol will offer more cargo space and a higher towing capacity than its predecessor when it arrives in New Zealand next year.

Alongside its previously confirmed 317kW/700Nm twin-turbo V6, the new Patrol will offer three rows of seating, a more flexible second row, increased cargo capacity and a 3700kg braked towing capacity across the range.

Nissan New Zealand has revealed further details of its new flagship SUV ahead of the first customer deliveries, which are scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

The new Patrol offers 577 litres of cargo space with all three rows of seats in use. Folding the third row increases this to 1594 litres, while folding both rear rows creates 2749 litres of space. That represents increases of 110L, 181L and 127L respectively compared with the outgoing Y62 Patrol.

Nissan says the second- and third-row seats can also be folded to create a near-flat cargo floor, making it easier to load larger items.

The Patrol's towing capacity has also increased by 200kg compared with the Y62, with all grades capable of towing up to 3700kg with a braked trailer.

Nissan will offer several tow tongue and tow ball configurations as accessories, including a setup capable of supporting the full 3700kg rating.

The 3700kg towing capacity also gives the new Patrol a 200kg advantage over the Toyota Land Cruiser 300, which has a maximum braked towing capacity of 3500kg.

The Patrol also offers more cargo space than the Land Cruiser 300 when configured with all three rows in use and with the rear seats folded.

The Patrol's greater cargo capacity comes alongside increased passenger space.

Second-row occupants can gain up to 250mm of additional legroom compared with the outgoing Patrol when the seats are in their rearmost position.

The third row has 75mm more hip room, 66mm more knee room and up to 253mm more legroom when the second row is moved forwards. Outboard passengers also gain an 84mm increase in heel gap, while the third-row floor is flatter.

Access to the third row has also been revised. A new tilt-and-glide second-row seat replaces the outgoing model's mechanical tumble arrangement, allowing access to the rear seats even when a child seat is fitted.

The new Patrol also gains ‘Zero Gravity’ seats in the first and second rows, with high-damping foam designed to reduce vibrations over rough roads.

The range-topping Ti-L Reserve adds massage functions for the driver and front passenger, while selected variants gain additional comfort and luxury features.

All four New Zealand variants – Ti, Ti-L, PRO-4X and Ti-L Reserve – use a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 producing 317kW of power and 700Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive.

Pricing starts at $120,990 plus on-road costs for the Patrol Ti, rising to $136,490 for the Ti-L, $145,990 for the PRO-4X and $150,490 for the Ti-L Reserve.

The new Patrol is due to arrive in New Zealand in the first quarter of 2027, with orders already open through Nissan dealers.
