Life in Greenlane

While many Auckanders know Greenlane first and foremost due to the sprawling clinical centre bearing its name, for the locals, there’s much more to the suburb than this. Here are some of its highlights:

  • Cornwall Park: okay, so technically this is in Epsom, but it’s so close that Greenlaners have a legitimate claim of their own. Cornwall Park is one of Auckland’s most popular greenspaces, and is perfect for exercise-junkies, family days out or sunbathing. In spring, keep an eye out for newly born calves and lambs! A smaller, but very picturesque alternative, is Konini Reserve where you’ve got a great chance of spotting native Tui birds.
  • Alexandra Park Racecourse: home to the trots, as well as a huge variety of other events and celebrations, Alexandra Park is one of Auckland’s longest running racing establishments.

Perhaps the best thing about Greenlane, however, is its central location. Surrounded by Ellerslie, One Tree Hill, Epsom and Remuera, the range of amenities and activities on offer within the local area is second to none. Heading a little further afield, Mission Bay is about 15 minutes’ drive, and the CBD is also readily accessible.

Cornwall Park is a great space for Greenlane residents to have on their doorsteps.

Getting around

With its proximity to SH1, it’s no surprise that Greenlane is well connected, both to the CBD, and surrounding suburbs.

Greenlane has its own station, that serves both the Southern and Onehunga Lines. On either of these routes, you’ll reach Britomart in just four stops, with other major hubs like Newmarket en route. As an alternative, a number of buses provide access to the CBD, often with a change at Newmarket, as well as surrounding areas.

SH1 means it's quick and easy to get going on those weekend getaways, whether you’re heading north of south.
